Call
The session "Women and Sciences" each year brings together women in scientific research and technical fields for a collaborative exchange. This session put women, from abroad, in touch with their Malian counterparts to allow them to share techniques and practical knowledge. The objective of the session is to nurture and promote research activities among the Malian women so they can publish their work and be proud of their achievements.
Because of the nature of the session, we cover different scientific topics depending on the expertise or research work of the participants.
This year the guest of honor is the brilliant Dr. Olufunmilayo Olapade, who won many acclaims and prices for her work in breast cancer research. She is an American of Nigerian origins; she was nominated in February 2011 by President Barack Obama as member of the National Cancer Advisory Board- NCAB. Dr. Olapade research interests are multiples and include treatment of breast cancer especially in young or pregnant women, family cancers, molecular genetic of cancer, evaluation of cancer risks and chemo-prevention; breast cancer in minority population and disparities in health outcomes.
This session gave life to the society of Women in Science of Mali AFSM created en 2009 for which one of the objectives is to create a network of exchange favorable to the development of Malian women in scientific research.
